Getting Started
How do I report a sighting?
Tap the Report tab, attach a photo or video (required), confirm the date/time and location, pick the object's shape and movement, and tap Submit. Your sighting appears in the global feed and on the map within a few seconds.
Do I need an account?
Yes — browsing is open to anyone, but reporting, commenting, liking, verifying, and following require a free account. You can sign in with Apple, Google, or an email magic link.
Is UFO Tracker free?
Yes. The full app is free with no ads. We may introduce an optional subscription tier for advanced investigator tools later (AI photo analysis, cluster alerts, satellite-pass overlays). The core reporting, feed, and map will always be free.
Account & Privacy
How do I delete my account?
Open the app, go to Profile → Privacy & Security → Danger Zone → Delete Account. You'll be asked to confirm by typing your username. Deletion is permanent and removes your profile, sightings, uploaded media, comments, likes, verifications, and follows from our servers.
How do I block another user?
Open their profile, tap the ⋯ button in the top right, and choose Block. Blocked users can no longer follow you or see your sightings in their feed, and their reports are hidden from your feed.
How do I report content or a user?
Every sighting, comment, and user profile has a flag or ⋯ menu with a Report option. We review every report within 24 hours and take action on violations of our community guidelines, including removing content and suspending accounts when appropriate.
How do I change my email, username, or avatar?
Go to Profile → Edit Profile. Email changes require confirmation via a magic link sent to the new address.
Sightings & Media
Why does my sighting require a photo or video?
UFO Tracker is a visual archive — every report needs supporting media so other users can see what you saw. If you witnessed something but didn't capture it, we recommend writing it up elsewhere; our focus is photo/video-backed reports.
Can I edit or delete my own sighting?
Yes. Open your sighting from your profile, tap the ⋯ menu, and choose Edit or Delete. Edits preserve verifications and comments; deletion removes everything permanently.
What's the difference between "Recent" and "Nearby"?
Recent shows every public sighting worldwide, newest first. Nearby uses your current location to show reports within a configurable radius.
Why do I see government-sourced sightings in the feed?
UFO Tracker ships with 385 real public-domain UAP cases from AARO (DoD), GEIPAN (CNES France), DHS/U.S. Customs & Border Protection, and NICAP's mirror of Project Blue Book photographic cases. These are clearly labeled with their source agency and carry links back to the original government release.
Notifications & Follows
I'm not getting push notifications.
Check Profile → Notification Settings inside the app — the banner there will tell you whether the issue is a system permission, a backend registration, or a disabled preference. If the banner says "Allowed" but nothing is arriving, tap Retry registration.
How do I follow another investigator?
Tap any user's profile and hit Follow. You'll see their new sightings at the top of your feed and optionally receive a push notification when they post.
Troubleshooting
The app won't sign me in.
If Apple or Google sign-in hangs, force-quit the app and try again. If the email magic link doesn't arrive, check your spam folder — the sender is [email protected]. If the link has expired (they're valid for 1 hour), request a new one.
My upload keeps failing.
Uploads require a stable connection — try switching between Wi-Fi and cellular. Video files must be under 200 MB; if yours is larger, trim it in your Photos app before submitting.
The map isn't loading or shows no pins.
Pull down on the map to refresh, or check your connection. If date filters are active, try clearing them. If you still see no pins, restart the app.
Safety
Is my location shared?
Your device location is only sent to our servers when you attach it to a specific sighting report or enable the Nearby feed. We do not continuously track users. See the Privacy Policy for details.
I saw something dangerous — who should I contact?
If you see something that threatens life, property, or aviation safety, contact local authorities first. UFO Tracker is a documentation and community platform, not an emergency-response service.
Still Need Help?
Email [email protected] with your username, the device and iOS version you're on, and a description of what happened. Screenshots or a short screen recording speed things up significantly.
