Privacy Policy
Last updated: April 20, 2026
AI4U LLC ("we", "our", or "us") operates the UFO Tracker mobile application. This page informs you of our policies regarding the collection, use, and disclosure of personal information when you use our app.
Information Collection
UFO Tracker is a community-driven platform for reporting and tracking UFO/UAP sightings. Because the app is built around a public sighting database, most data is stored on our servers rather than only on your device. Here's what you should know:
- Account Data: When you sign in, we store your email address, username, display name, location, bio, and avatar photo on our servers (hosted by Supabase).
- Sighting Reports: When you submit a report, the photos, videos, GPS coordinates, timestamps, object details, and description are uploaded and stored on our servers. All public sightings are visible to other users in the app and on the map.
- Camera & Photo Library Access: We request camera and photo library access so you can capture or select photos and videos to include in sighting reports. Media is only uploaded when you explicitly submit a report.
- Location Data: When you enable location services, we use your coordinates to tag new sightings, populate the "Nearby" feed, and show your position on the map. Location is used only at the time of the action; we do not continuously track your location.
- Device Information: We collect device model, operating system version, and app version for debugging, analytics, and compatibility purposes.
Public Content
UFO Tracker is community-first — sighting reports are public by design. When you submit a sighting:
- The photos, videos, shape, movement, description, date/time, and coordinates become visible on the public map and feed to all users.
- Your username, display name, and avatar are shown as the reporter.
- Other users can verify, like, and comment on your sighting.
- You can edit or delete your own sightings at any time from the app. Deletion removes the record and associated media from our servers.
Your email address is never shown publicly. Only your profile fields you choose to populate (display name, bio, avatar, location) are visible to other users.
Authentication
You can sign in using:
- Apple Sign-In: We receive your Apple-provided name and email (or relay address if you choose "Hide My Email").
- Google Sign-In: We receive your name and email from your Google account.
- Email Magic Link: A passwordless sign-in link is sent to your email. No password is stored.
Email addresses are used solely for authentication and account recovery. We do not send marketing emails.
Community Interactions
The following interactions are stored on our servers and are visible to other users:
- Verifications you submit on other users' sightings
- Likes you give to sightings
- Comments you post on sightings
- Follows between users
Push Notifications
If you enable notifications, your device push token is stored on our servers and shared with Expo's push notification service to deliver alerts about nearby sightings, comments on your reports, verifications, new followers, and cluster activity. Expo does not receive personal identifying information beyond the push token.
Contact Information
If you email our support address, we retain your email address and message content to respond to your inquiry. This information is used solely for customer support purposes.
Pricing
UFO Tracker is currently free with all features unlocked. No payment information is collected. In the future, we may offer a paid subscription tier for premium features (AI photo analysis, cluster alerts, advanced overlays); if and when this is introduced, Apple or Google will handle payments — we will not receive your payment card information.
Third-Party Services
UFO Tracker uses the following third-party services:
- Supabase: Hosts our database, authentication, and storage. User profiles, sightings, photos, videos, verifications, comments, and likes are stored on Supabase infrastructure.
- Apple Sign-In & Google Sign-In: For account authentication. Each provider may collect standard OAuth data during sign-in.
- Google Maps: For the sighting map and location picker. Map interactions (panning, zooming) are processed by Google.
- Expo: For push notification delivery.
- AI Services (Future): If you use AI photo analysis, images may be sent securely to a third-party AI provider (such as Google Gemini) for processing. Results are returned to you and stored with the sighting.
Data Security
We take reasonable measures to protect your information. Data transmitted to and stored by our services is sent over encrypted connections. Access to user data is restricted via row-level security policies. However, no system is completely secure, and you use the service at your own risk.
Data Retention & Deletion
We retain your account data until you request deletion. You can delete your account at any time from the app settings — this permanently removes your profile, sightings, uploaded media, comments, likes, verifications, and follows. Aggregated anonymous data (such as regional sighting counts) may be retained for research and platform improvement.
Children's Privacy
UFO Tracker is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date.
